"On behalf of Expert Village, I'd like to talk about stilt walking. My name is Paul Anderson from the ABC circus and here we are. Safety; that's the number one issue on stilt walking. The first rule of stilt walking is never fall. All the other rules are related to never fall. One fall could hurt you quite badly, so always check the safety on your stilts. In circus school, most stilts just have these straps. Check your straps. See if it's frayed. See if it's running. See if there's any tears in it every time before you put them on. On my stilts, professional stilts, I added this nylon truck tie, which I can depend on, and adjust it while I'm wearing the stilt. I check to make sure that the ties are not frayed and the nylon strap is solid. I also check to see how the rubber on the bottom is doing. This one needed a slight adjustment to make sure it's in the right place. These look good and are solid. Now that I've done my checklist of my safety concerns, I'm ready to put the stilts on."
