"Hi, this is Doug on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. We're going over the sleight of hand involved in the French Drop. A manipulation with a coin, an everyday object. But today we're using a large coin. What we went over is the fact that you will take your hands and bring them together. Now the second step and most important part of this illusion, we'll turn to the side so you can see, is again, the drop. It's very important here, it's called the drop and steal. You're going to drop it into your hand like this, so there's a landing pad. The coin should find itself nicely either against the palm of the fingers or the palm of the hand itself. So what's going to happen here again is the drop and steal. You're going to bring your hands, this is from the back mind you. You're going to drop the coin and steal the coin with this hand. This is very crucial part of the trick, is that you almost fool yourself into thinking the coin is in this hand. Because it's a steal, a drop and steal. Again, what's happening there is the coin is going to under cover of the hands, drop and you will steal an imaginary coin and come apart. Now the hands coming apart is also a very crucial moment here because your focus must be here, not where the coin actually is. If you can focus on where you think the coin should be, or the audience should be, they will follow your focus there. It's called misdirection. The other hand is not important. Don't think about it, don't look at it, don't focus on it and no one else will."
