"Hi, I?m Doug on behalf of ExpertVillage.com, a continuation of an introduction to sleight of hand. Now how do you become good at magic? It's obeying the rules of magic, primarily the first one, which is practice. Practice, practice, practice. How do you want to practice? You want to practice in front of the mirror. You want to practice in front of a small dog, a small child, anything you can find around the house. But practice. Because every magician will use a trick differently according to their personality, what they like to do, how they like to entertain. You want to really get comfortable. And again, like using any kind of instrument, it's about muscle memorization, having your hands manipulate the object in a certain way. You want to become very comfortable. Because the more comfortable you are with the object, or the illusion, the more effortless it becomes. The more effortless it becomes, the more effortless the illusion of magic is. Therefore, it just comes naturally, you were born to just do magic. And that becomes much more magical for you. So again, practicing in front of a mirror, find somebody you trust that preferably the same person again. You don't want to reveal all of your secrets. So you want to practice plenty in front of a mirror, or find somebody you trust, and a small animal. Get used to performing in front of people. And very important, you become a better and stronger magician as you practice."
