"What we've learned so far is knit and purl, which when combined together is called the stocknet stitch. When you see that on patterns and it says stocknet stitch, you know that you knit a row and your purl a row. Then there's something else called ribbing. Ribbing usually you see on the cuffs of sweaters or on the top of socks and it'll be knit 2, purl 2, knit 3, purl 3. Right now since I have 10 stitches and I want it to be even, I'm going to do knit 2, purl 2. I think I'll do 2 rows of them so you can see maybe how it ends up looking. This you've go to remember. You knit so remember knit is insert the needle in the front toward the back, take your ball yarn, wrap it around, and pull it through, knit one. Here comes knit two. Put the needle in through the front, wrap the yarn around and pull it back. Now, here's the tricky part. We've been knitting so the yarn's in back, but when you purl the yarn has to be in the front of the needle so we're going to pull it to the front, the yarn, and now we're going to purl two. We're going to in front, purl and back it out, push that off. Sometimes they get a little sticky there. Put the needle in front for the purl, wrap the yarn around and pull it through. Now because we're going to knit, you have to remember to put that yarn toward the back. You can't knit with the yarn in the front. When you have the yarn in the front that's purl. Now we're going to knit two. Knit 1, knit 2. Pull the yarn to the front so we can purl two. Purl 2, 1, 2. Don't worry about speed. People get all stressed about speed and knitting. You these ladies and gentlemen...we're going to knit 2 now...who've been knitting for years and years and years. You just hear their needles clacking, clacking, clacking. Don't stress yourself out about that. I like to knit and relax with it. If I'm not going fast, I'm not going fast. The project is still going to get done."
