"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Bob Lanning and I'm here to tell you about making a train diorama in HO scale. Down this aisle is the brains of the operation, all our controls, and up here in the hill you can see our representative of Jerome, which was really the hub of the mining from about 1876, from the first strike, until the mid 1950's when the ore sort of petered out. We just show enough of the town to represent it. The in-scale buildings should give you a little force perspective, we didn't do the whole town, you get a pretty good idea from the angle that your usually viewed. You can see the, two of the main streets and way up in the top in the left is the, they come from the hospital, is now called the Grand Hotel and is an operating restaurant. In those days it was a very well thought of hospital for this whole area because Cottonwood wasn't much at that time. Jerome at one time was the largest, second largest city in Arizona, it had fifteen thousand population. The population now, since the mine's closed down is right around five or six hundred people. At night you looked up from the valley, and it looked like little jewels floating the sky with all the lights up there and the letter "J" is lit up now at night."
