How to Use the Blind or Double Nil in Spades

"Now we come to the topic of blind or double nils. The terms are synonymous. I guess a lot of people just use DN but its really a blind nil. And that?s exactly what it is. Its bidding your hand before you see it. Now, that just sounds so repugnant to me. Bidding your hand before you see it. And the purpose of this bid is obviously, no pun intended, its blind luck. There is absolutely no skill factor involved. I mean, can you honestly think, I mean. I used to have a cat that love to play with cards. I suppose if I trained my cat to flip over cards and go meow, that would be the equivalent of what we are doing here. The purpose of the blind nil is to help a team that is losing badly get back in to the game. You are down two hundred fifty points. There is two hands to go. I mean, what are you going to do. I mean, you know that if you are going to bid conventionally, they're going to beat you on the exchanges every hand. So, what is the choice? They got this rule in here and it is an option called blind nil. And lets just say that you are forced to bid this because you want to get; and it is rewarded with two hundred points. Unfortunately, it is punished with two hundred points set. Lets just say that it is my turn to bid or my partner's bid five and I feel good about it. So, I say blind nil and I slap this down. And I say, oh my God, is that the ace of spade, I'm set. There goes two hundred points down the glugo. But on the other hand if I get really lucky."
