"Hi, I'm Doctor Michael Walker from Hill Country Facial Plastic Surgery Center. And on behalf of Expert Village I'll be talking about Blepharoplasty. What might the complications be? Typical complications are bruising, swelling. Scars will be pink for several weeks. the bruises usually subside within about a week or two. The swelling usually subsides in three or four days. Other complications more severe, could be something like blindness. But that's very rare, happens about one in twenty thousand cases. Other possible complications are asymmetry, one eye looking slightly different than the other eye. Another complication would be the lower lid turning inside out, that's called ectopic. Sometimes if the surgeon removes too much skin in a lower lid, which is floppy and loose, the scar tissue can turn the eyelid inside out where the pink part shows and that can be surgically corrected. Or it's something you want to avoid in the first place."
