"Hi, my name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show one of my favorite alcoholic drinks to drink when it's cold outside, mulled wine. For today's mulled wine recipe, you're not going to need a whole lot in the way of equipment. You're going to need a good sharp knife. I'm using a serrated knife. The reason why is that I'm slicing through fruit and this is my slicer and certain knives just work better. If you have a really really sharp straight-edged knife, that will go right through it too. Serrated knives have that nice sawing action that helps it get through the skin of the fruit. I've also got a large cutting surface here, this thing - a big cutting board. We'll use this to slice our fruit on. We're also going to need a pot and a lid. This is a four and a half quart, with a lid. Depending on what size you're going to do I'm doing one bottle of wine here so this will be plenty big, it will probably come up to about less than halfway here by the time it's all done. If you're doing a huge batch, obviously, scale your pot size up. I'd also recommend something that can withstand sustained heat. It's going to be on simmer for an hour so something with a nice thick bottom on it, something nice and sturdy. If you don't know what to look for in a pan, you can always look at my other video series on Expert Village, which is "What to Look for When Buying Cookware". I'd also recommend a nice, tight-fitting lid. That's always a big plus. We're also going to need a spatula or a spoon to stir the mixture up with as we cook it as well as a towel to keep us from burning ourselves when we grab the handle of the pan. So, that being said, let's go ahead and get started making our recipe."
