Summary: Onions add flavor to almost any recipe. Our expert shows you how to properly chop onions in this free cooking video.
"Hi, this is Ben Hardy with Expert Village. First, we are going to start with chopping our onion. We are going to take it to the side, chop the top, and the bottom off. Set those to the side. You want to take your knife and make a small incision on the side like so. Just peel off the outer layer. It is okay if you get just a little bit more then that. Go ahead and throw that away. To do a chop onion it is not very hard just make a few slices and make some rings. Since we only needed about a tablespoon we are just going to set the rest of the onion to the side to use later. Go ahead and make small cuts and a plus sign. Continue on and take your knife and slowly work your way right to left on your onion. Then left to right and then back right to left. Make sure that you get every piece in small little chunks. We need about a tablespoon so that is way to much. Now as you continue on cooking and learning how to cook you would be able to eyeball some of your measurements. For now you want to go ahead and use a actual tablespoon. A actual tablespoon should come out to be about this right here."
