Series Summary

Diabetes is a syndrome distinguished by the body's inability to regulate blood sugar levels due to low levels of the hormone insulin or the body's resistance to the effect of insulin. Symptoms can include excessive thirst, increased urine production, and blurred vision. But if treated properly, which means blood pressure control, lifestyle choices, and proper nutrition and diet, the most adverse symptoms and resultant chronic conditions of diabetes can usually be avoided. Since the first step to controlling a syndrome like diabetes is to eat properly and control your intake of sugar, cooking and food recipes, like this series, are essential to the proper management of diabetes.

In this free video series, our expert Josiah Owen will teach you how to cook some appetizers for diabetics. Josiah will teach you how to prepare and cook franks and swiss crescents and a fruit pizza. He will show you how to prepare the crescents, hotdogs, and strawberries. He will show you how to cut the crescents, add the mustard, season and add cheese to the crescents, and roll the crescents. Josiah will also teach you how to make and prepare the crust and base for a fruit pizza, and teach you how to arrange the fruit on the pizza and add a glaze.
