"Hi! This is Kevin on behalf of Expert Village talking about how to avoid razor burn and razor cuts. When the shave is done, it's time to switch from hot water to cold water for your face. You want to use cold water on your face to clean up because that will close the pores. Cold has the effect of constricting the blood vessels in the face. If after you shave, your face swells with irritation or it gets some redness, then you want to reduce that blood flow to the face. The cold water will do that by constricting the blood vessels. Just wash your face with cold water and towel off. Some people take it a step further and recommend rubbing an ice cube on your skin after shaving. That can be a little uncomfortable and extreme, but if you're seeing some redness or swelling in a problem area after you shave, then try it. Just take an ice cube and rub it on the problem area for about 15-20 seconds. It soothes the skin and you'll start to feel some of that irritation fade away. If you continue to get persistent bumps on your face, then you might want to look into an anti-inflammatory cream and talk to a dermatologist about what anti-inflammatory will work best for your skin situation."
