"This is Kevin on behalf of Expert Village talking about how to avoid razor burns and cuts. The next big choice is what shaving cream to use. There are a lot of different brands out there. The whole purpose of shaving cream is to soften the hair and make it easier to cut, while at the same time moisturizing and protecting the skin. What most people don't realize is that gel and foam shaving creams, which are about 90% of shaving creams on the market, are usually alcohol based. The problem is that alcohol dries the skin. You may have noticed that immediately after you have and towel off, your skin feels dry, tight, and irritated. This is partly from the alcohol. Look for shaving creams that come in a tube or a tub and do not contain alcohol. These are the old style shaving creams that you lather up either with your hand or with a shaving brush. In addition to not containing alcohol, try to find something that is specifically for sensitive skin. It might contain some natural ingredients and oils like coconut oil or coco butter or Aloe Vera. I've even heard of people having good results that contain tea tree oil. As with razors, try different brands. See what works best for your skin."
