Series Summary

Peer-to-peer file sharing became popular as a way for downloading music during the 90's. Eventually, after years of litigation, most free file sharing programs, like Napster and BearShare, were shut down and declared illegal. Since then, many of these programs have been released with a paid subscription. BearShare is one such file sharing product. Originally developed by Free Peers Inc., BearShare was shut down by MGM Studios, Inc. vs Grokster, Ltd. and then re-released as a monthly pay software under MusicLab, LLC. BearShare is a great way to use torrent file sharing to beef up your music library, download music from other subscribers, and social network with other BearShare users.

In this free video series, watch as computer, internet and software expert Matt Nichols teaches how to use BearShare to download music. Learn the basics of BearShare software, how to download BearShare, how to install BearShare, how to search for songs to download, how to download music, how to get a monthly subscription to BearShare, how to use the playlist, how to burn CD's using BearShare, and how to use BearShare for social networking. File-sharing is a great way to learn about new music and share your music with other music fans. Video Transcript

"Hey everybody. My name is Matt and I'm speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. We kind of touched on the library on the last lesson. If you want to get to your library, go up here through the top left and click my library. It's going to take you to a screen that looks like this. This is going to list all of the songs that you've downloaded. You can arrange them in different ways by clicking on the column. If you want to play a track, all you have to do is double click it. It's going to play, or you can come up to the media player at the top and click play there. You can also right click it and click play. There's some other things you can do if you right click a track. You can play all the tracks off an album by clicking play album You can send a song to a friend or copy it to a clip board. You can add it to a play list, which we'll get into in a little bit. You can also burn it directly to a CD, which we'll also get into in a little bit. You browse by artist or album. You can obviously buy the song like I said in the last lesson. You can delete it from your library. If you click show file, that's going to show you where is resides on your hard drive. If you click get track info, it'll show you a little bit more information about it. Next thing I'm going to show you how to do is how to create and play a play list."
