"Hey everybody my name is Matt and I'm speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. Over here to the left of your paint bucket tool, you've got your gradient tool. If you select that, it will bring up your gradients window over here. I'm going to select just the first gradient over here and if you come over to your canvas and click your left mouse button and drag it out it will give you a line and when you release it, it's going to give you a gradient and the size of that gradient is dependent on how far you drag out your mouse as you can see. You can also create your own gradients if you click the plus button in your gradient window. It's going to bring up this dialog and here at the top you can change the shape of the gradient, and here in the middle you can change some different options such as the angle of it and different things and that's just going to change depending on the type of gradient you have selected. And then you can change the colors here at the bottom, click on that swatch there. It's got four different swatches and you can change the colors for each of them individually and when you are happy with it, just click okay. And you can come over to your main window and drag out the gradient and these are going to be more useful in the future when we learn how to use masks. "
