Summary: How to import calendars from other programs into Google Calendar; learn more about Google features and interfaces in this free instructional video.
"Okay so if you use another calendar program like Outlook or Apple's iCal or even the Yahoo calendar? You may want to import your calendar into Google Calendar and that's actually pretty easy to do. So depending on which program you have I'm going to show you how to do it for those three I just mentioned. But one easy thing to do is just go up to your help. Click on help and then you're in your Google calendar help center which is also a great place to go if you ever have any questions. And then if you go down to features, import and export you get another list of options here. And then right here, how do I migrate events, you have the three I just mentioned, iCal, Outlook and Yahoo calendar. So if you're doing it with iCal you just click on here and it just says to select your calendar and then go to file export and then you'll save it. And then once you've done that you want to go into your Google calendar and you want to add a calendar to import the events to. So I see I have one calendar right now but if I wanted to add a new calendar I would go create a new calendar. And maybe I'd call it just iCal. Just go ahead and create it. So there it is. So then I would go to this little area right here, Import a calendar. And then I would browse for that file I just exported and save it into my iCal calendar I just created and import it. So let me just show you real fast in iCal. See you've got your calendars right here, so I would select one and then file, export and there you go. And that's when you would go back to the Google calendar and import it like I just showed you. But if you're using a different program, say Microsoft Outlook. It says "open outlook and go to file, import and export, export to file." Then you want to select comma separated values. Then you can select the calendar you want to export and you can save it to your desired location and then click finish. It also says when exporting more than 1 years worth of data they recommend that you divide your calendar into multiple 1 year segments and export each file separately otherwise you may encounter errors. So after you've selected the desired date range you can export and click okay and then the same thing just like I showed you with iCal. You want to go into Google calendar, create a calendar you'd like to import these events to and then import them under the little button right here. And if you're using Yahoo's calendar. You can see "how do I migrate events from the Yahoo calendar" right here on the help center. And they say go to your Yahoo calendar and then go to options and then go to import export. And then you want to use the Export to Outlook option which will save it in a CSV file. And let me show you real fast. Here's Yahoo Calendar. And if I go over here to the options under management you'll see the import export and at the very bottom is the export to Outlook option which is what you want to use. So you export that and just save the file. It should be a CSV file. And then would go back to Google calendar and import calendar. And that is basically how you can import those three major calendar programs into Google calendar."
