"Now we're going to focus on that samba foot pattern with the clave on the snare drum, doing the rim clicks. So like we did before start off with the samba on your bass drum. One, two, three, four. Add in the high hat, and the clave. I have it written down on paper, I've written down with the ride symbol, but don't look at that unless you need that to see the subdivision of the eighth notes, that's fine. You see on beat one and two and the first two hits of the clave, the bass drum and snare line up together, see. The snare is all by itself with the high hat on beat four and the bass drum comes right after on beat four and back on to beat one, so you have this for the first measure. The next measure, the snare drum is on beats two and three, on beat two it's with the high hat and with beat three it's on the bass drum, so all together you have."
