"So, now we're going to add the Ride cymbal, or the Hi Hat. We'll do it on the Ride first, while I'm playing the clave. So, just going to keep straight eighth notes on the Ride cymbal. One and two and three and four and one and... Now you remember how that pattern goes? One and two and three and four and one and two and three and four and one and two... I wrote it down on paper if you need to look at it to be able to play it. It's important, though, that you can play just by hearing it, too, because all music is not written down on paper. The music itself is coming out of what you're playing, not from the paper. So, here is what it looks like with the Ride cymbal. You can see where the beats line up. We'll play it one more time. One and two and three and four and...four...two, three..."
