"Hi I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village and today we're going to be learning how to play a Bossa Nova drum beat. Now that we have the three separate instruments: the high hat, the snare drum and the kick. We've played them all; we've played two at the same time. We haven't put them all together yet. That's what we're going to do now. We are going to play our Bossa Nova drum beat. Sixteenth notes on the hat, we've got the snare drum pattern, we've got the kick drum pattern, let's go ahead and start counting. Remember, the left hand stick, playing the side stick with the butt end, so one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one. Now, if you notice, I have my little map here and I'm looking at this the whole time and it's helping. If that's too fast go ahead and slow it down, because the one thing with our piece of music; if you slow it down to a point where it's one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one. That is exactly how slow; actually probably, I probably practiced that slower when I first learned how to do a Bossa Nova drum beat. After time and after practice I really got to the point where you know; but at first I practiced it really slowly and I was looking at this and saying, ok here's the one and I could tell what I needed to do and then on the E, nothing except hit the high hat, then on the and, ok. Really slow like that, just really fill in the pieces. This is the reason for this; it's going to help us fill in the pieces to our puzzle. Keep practicing and you will get the Bossa Nova down at a faster speed, but just keep practicing it slowly and then when it's feeling right at that speed, speed it up again. Let's take a look at our next step."
