"Hi, I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be learning how to play a drum roll. So now that we've taken a look at single stroke and double stroke, and now we're going to take a look at bounce. We know that bounce is just allowing the stick basically to bounce as many times as it's going to, with least amount of control as possible. To do that, you have to hold the sticks in a slightly different way. We know that to hold the sticks in a Match Grip. Place it on the palm, wrap the fingers around and then you got your thumb on the side, right? And then you have this, I like to have this little open spot here to make it as loose as possible. Well that's really key in this step because to allow the stick to bounce, these fingers can't be on the stick. Because essentially, these fingers control what the stick is going to do. So if I want to do that, you know, I'm really controlling what the stick is doing with my back fingers. Since we're going to be playing bounce, and there's little control at all, how we're going to do this is we're going to go ahead and hold the stick in between our forefinger and our thumb. And we still have the loose fulcrum here, that little space. And I'm holding it very lightly. I don't know if you can tell. But I'm holding it right like that, and then I keep these fingers off the stick. And you just allow the stick to bounce. So with that being said, let's go ahead and take a look at what our next step is going to be in how to play a drum roll."
