"Hi, I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be learning how to play a drum roll. Now that we know what single stroke is and how to play a single stroke, it's time to talk about the other stroke we're going to be using in learning how to play a drum roll, and that's the double stroke. So the single stroke to recap is one note is produced or one sound is produced with exactly one wrist movement. You lift your wrist up once and you play once and you get one note. A double stroke you lift your wrist up once, however you produce two notes. Now this is using bounce. Now this is the key when I said before about how to hold a drumsticks and I hold them really loose. This is why. You cannot hold the sticks very tight and expect to get a bounce out of the stick. So a double stroke, one wrist movement equals two produced notes, or you're producing two notes or two sounds. You have to use bounce on that. So let's go ahead and take a look at what our next step is."
