"Hi I'm Shaw Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village and today we're going to be learning how to play a Bossa Nova drum beat. Now that we've gotten used to counting and playing our sixteenth notes on the high hat with two hands for the Bossa Nova drum beat it requires that you play sixteenth notes on the high hat with your right hand only, because your left hand is going to be playing the snare drum. Let's go ahead and get used to playing sixteenth notes on the high hat with our right hand. Let's count: one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one E and ah two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah. Now part of the object to is to make sure every beat you play on the high hat it sounds the same. You don't want accents and different, evenly spaced between each note and just make them all sound the same. Really the high hat in this is not as important as the kick drum, it's just going along, this is just your time; two E and ah three E and ah four E and ah one. If it's too fast go ahead and pull it back slow down, it's better to practice slow and be perfect than to be sloppy by practicing fast. It doesn't do you any good. Let's go ahead and take a look at our next step."
