"Hi, I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to be learning how to play a drum roll. So now that we have a playing sixteenth notes out of the way, we're playing with the alternate sticking with the one-e and ah right left, right left. And the other sticking, the right right, left left, right right, left left. Now it's time to talk about strokes. And this is important because this is we're going to be discussing the mechanics of your roll. And there are three types, there's primarily two. There is a third type that no one uses. It's a rudiment, and it's you know, maybe you might use it in marching band. But there's single stroke, there's double stroke, and then there's triple stroke. Triple stroke's the one I think is kind of sketchy. You can do it, it's very difficult to do but we're not going to discuss that right now. We're going to discuss single stroke. What a single stroke is or what it means is for every time you lift your wrist, okay, there's only one hit on a drum. So that means if you see my wrist going up and down the stick is only going to produce one note, or one sound. So let's go ahead and take a look at our next step."
