"Now we are going to do the opposite of what we just did, where we learned our scale reading the same pattern in different keys. Now, we are going to read in a different key and applied it to a key major scale pattern. Here we have an E major, this is written in E major, and "E" is right on this bottom line. Here is "1", there is "5" and "6", and "5". But if I make 1 "D", we still get the same thing. 1 5 6 5 6 5 4 3 2 3 4 1 2 [play piano]. And you get the exact same pattern, but now we reading it in E major, but we are actually playing it in D major. So this means next transposing music or playing it in a different key that much easier, because, all you have to do is change the pattern. Or, keep the same pattern, but, change the chord in the scale you are playing it, at that time."
