Series Summary

Drums make up the backbone of most rock and jazz bands. These percussion instruments are used to keep the beat for the song and the other musicians. Drums are the world's oldest and most essential of musical instruments, and have remained basically unchanged for thousands of years. Drums are not tuned instruments but they do create the bones of a song and are especially important in rock music and jazz.

In this free video series, our expert will demonstrate paradiddle techniques in drumming. Expert Kevin Grossman demonstrates single, double, and triple beat exercises, how to play drum fills, and the basics of parradiddle orchestration. Watch these videos and take your drumming to the next level.

Video Transcript

"Alright, so, remember when we talked about the rudiments, I showed you the paradiddles. I showed you the single paradiddle, the double paradiddle, and the triple paradiddle. I also showed you the paradiddle-diddle. Now we're going to take all of the stuff, and we're going to move it off of the snare drum, move it around the kit. We're going to turn it into beats. We're going to turn it into fills. So, you have the single paradiddle drum beat. The double paradiddle drum beat. The triple paradiddle drum beat. So, you're going to work with those a little bit. I'm going to show you some fills. And we're going to do some more stuff with the paradiddle-diddle, fills like that. That's a fun one once you build it up to speed like that. And I'm going to show you about orchestration with the paradiddles, moving it around on different toms. And we're just going to all sorts of paradiddle fun, so grab your drumsticks and get ready to work with the paradiddles."
