"Hi I'm Dan on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are going to talk about different styles on grip on your drum sticks. I play with match grip which means I use my right and left hand the same kind of grip. Meaning I play right hand like that and my left hand the same way. Now some people play with there right hand this way but there left hand holding it this way which is called traditional grip. It is more common with jazz players but it is becoming less and less common. I grow up with playing match grip that is the way I was thought. Some that is what I'm comfortable with. But you may be comfortable with traditional grip depending on who your teacher is or what kind of style of music you are playing. Watch our next segment on brushes verses sticks."
