"Hi! This is Grace Fitzpatrick here on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to talk to you about using a brush when doing the dishes by hand. There is a big debate going on about what to use when washing the dishes by hand. Some people are really big brush people and other people like sponges. So I am going to talk about both of those today and the pros and cons of each. Here we have a nice dish brush. It is something that can be purchased at any pharmacy or grocery store. I prefer the plastic handle because it doesn't seem to disintegrate as quickly but it doesn't really matter what type of brush you get. The good thing about brushes is that they create a lot of friction on the dish so where sponges have one side pretty smooth, you can't always get some tough food off that is stuck there. Another nice thing about the brush is you can be sort of hands off about it all. You don't actually have to come in to as much contact with the dish and you can be a little bit more neat and clean about it. So some people who don't like getting their hands dirty as much, might want to choose a brush. It is very important to remember to rinse out your brush. A lot of times food can get trapped between these little bristles. They are very close together and when it sits in there, it kind of rots and or goes stale and just gets smelly and gross. So one thing you want to remember when you are doing the dishes is always you want to be aware of where the food particles go and make sure that you clean your brush nicely afterwards. "
