Preflight Checklist for Pilot Training

"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Rodney Fielitz I'm a certified flight instructor in Cottonwood, AZ and I'm here to give you the basics of what it takes to become a pilot. Now the next phase in the manual before take off and before take off there are several procedures you want to do and again use your checklist. I can't tell you how important it is to use the checklist during the checklist is going to have all the procedures that you need to do and your instructor will help you follow through them. You will start memorizing them to a certain extent but you never want to not use your checklist, during prior to take off you're going to check your magnetos, your magnetos are the ones that create your spark plugs, you're going to check them to make sure that they're not to bad of a drop in this RPM. And then you're going to check all your flight controls make sure they're free in movement and people do this during the flight phase. But part of the checklist again is to make sure that the airplane is ready to go and we're going to have these checklist, we're going to check the gages, the instruments, the radios, everything to make sure we're set to where we want it and how we want to fly. We also have to set the altimeter what is our altimeter, it tells you what the field elevation is."
