"Hi, I'm Kelly on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you some tips and techniques that you can use when applying powder foundation. So, the first thing you want take into consideration when you're wearing really any foundation but a powder foundation especially, is exfoliation. Powder foundations have more of a tendency to stick or cling to any dry or flaky patches on the skin. So there's two types of different exfoliators that you can use. You can use either a manual exfoliator which is more of your greeny scrubs. Not a big fan of those, I know everybody has their own preference, but they can be a little bit harsh on the skin and all they really remove is your surface dead skin flakes. I prefer a chemical exfoliator which is your alpha-hydroxy acids, which is actually what I'm going to apply to her. So, basically what a alpha-hydroxy acid does is it penetrates a little bit deeper into the skin to help to dissolve dead skin cells. So this will lead to a much brighter and smoother texture. It also will help to keep your skin cells rejuvinating at a much quicker rate, which will lead to a healthier looking skin if you are concerned with aging. An alpha hydroxy will speed your cellular renewal up to the speed it used to be when you were much younger. So, in turn your skin is going to function like it did when you were younger and it will also look like it did when you were younger. So thats why I prefer alpha hydroxy acids or chemical peels or anything like that as a form of exfoliation rather than a granual scrub. Based on what your skin concerns are that will lead you to an exfoliation method thats going to be right for you. But just by making sure your exfoliating, your moisturizer is going to penetrate a lot better for you. Your foundation is going to lay a lot smoother and you will have a lot less of a tendency to have clumpiness or cakiness or your foundation clinging to any dry flakes on the skin."
