"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is when running the option play. This is a very effective play. When this play comes to the outside we have to have good blocking on the outside. (Video demo) This receiver can make or break this play to the outside. Once our quarterback makes the decision to come down in here we want our wide receivers, as soon as this ball is snapped, to go down like they're going into a pattern to run a deep out. That will get our defensive back in a back peddle. Once he knows it's a running play he'll instantly come out of his back peddle, turn and look up field and start in that direction. Once this player sees this happening, he wants to step to the inside and seal this guy, pop him hard to keep him out of the play. Right behind him is coming this tailback through this spot or the quarterback, if he decides to pop it up the field; they'll be coming right through here. So we have to use our receivers to get those defensive backs off the play so we can get a big gain through this side of the field."
