Hi, my name is Jim DeYoung. I'm with Fat Cats Family Bowling Center, Salt Lake City, Utah. You can see us on the web fatcatsfun.com. I'm also here on behalf of expertvillage.com. One thing that I'm going to talk to you about is the importance of cleaning your ball and wiping off your ball. For instance, this ball I just threw and it has an oil flare. This is mostly were the ball has been thrown and were it has rolled on the lane. The oil flare can consist of three inches to six inches just depending on how you had rolled your ball and how much oil is on there. What I like to do is before every shot I make sure to grab a towel and wipe my ball off. Make sure its completely wiped of all the oil. So now when I throw my ball and it rolls over the same spot it will be dry. It will actually collect more oil on it but the oil won't add upon it and end up sliding. Another good thing to do is always make sure that your ball is clean before you bowl. If you have a brand new ball I always suggest bowling up to six games before actually cleaning your bowling ball. This way it burns a track into your bowling ball. Your bowling ball track will be the exact thing as the oil flare but it will be actually on the ball it self. So you want to clean it. Make sure its clean and not dirty because with dirt combined with oil it will make it slide.
