"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. We want to work with our running backs now on a couple of things. The first drill we're going to do here is just a drill that we work on to get the players better at cutting. What we want them to do is we want them to run hard, plant on the inside foot, and then explode off of it. And, they're going to cut at each one of the cones. Then they're obviously going to be running this way and they're going to plant on their left foot and pop to the right. So, every time they come to a cone they're going to cut. So, let's start the line right here. You always start these drills out in a football stance. And I'll say "hut" and they'll go and they'll cut on the cones and they'll jog back. Alright, Tanner's up first. Ready, set, hut. Cut, see how he plants and cuts inside each cone. Now, you can put as many as five or six cones, depending on how far you want him to go but we're just trying to demonstrate this drill. So, ready Blake, set, hut. Good cut, he plants and cuts. Good. So, you always want to make sure that they plant that foot and cut. And, you notice that they're wrapping that ball up as they would if they were going through the line. Scoot back up here. This next drill is called the explosion drill. And we just do this time and time again to get the players used to exploding out on their first step. A lot of players you'll see will waste a step. They'll lift this front foot backwards and then take a step, and that's not what we want them to do. So, what we teach them to do is, we want them to plant in a good base and explode with this first leg coming out and then they explode off the back foot and they're going to take about four steps and then they're going to stop, then we're going to go the other direction. So, this is just a drill to work on explosion here. Set, hut. Good. Stop. Here, go ahead and plant. Alright, now we're going to go to the opposite direction so now they're going to be crossing this way, exploding off of their right foot. Set, hut. Good job. So, that's just a couple of different drills that you can work with your backs on, cutting and exploding out of their stance."
