"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about is when you bring your guys up to the offensive line there are a couple of different ways you can arrange your stance. We're talking about the splits in between their feet. You don't want your linemen too close together but you don't want them too spread out either. There are a couple of different ways you can do this. One is to come up in a standard split for most teams which is a two foot split. In the two foot split you'll be about shoulder width apart when you get down in your stance. This is effectively used on the run plays. But, what we see a lot now with the spread style offenses and the wing style offenses and the west coast style offenses is the three foot stance. They're going to widen it out a little. This will sometimes cause the defense to widen out as well. Once you get your offensive line so wide and your defensive line wide that allows a lot of room for our running backs to run through. It also spreads out the coverage so we can throw down field a little easier. It just depends on your style of offense whether you want the two foot splits or the three foot splits."
