"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about is something called the angle block or blocking down. You can refer to it either way. It depends on the terminology you use on your team. This is something I like to do on every run play. It means to have a block down away from the play so we can have effective blocking and everybody is to the opposite side of the field from the play. With angle blocking, the first move is, instead of him coming up and fitting into the numbers he's going to take one step to the inside and he'll try to position himself so he can explode up on the outside of the guy trying to drive him to one side or the other. That's an angle block or a down block. He's going to fit up inside and he'll try to drive that guy completely out of the play. If we have everybody driving that block to that side it will prevent anyone from coming to the other side of the field for us to run a big play. Again, that's called an angle block or blocking down where we're going to fit to the inside and him block completely down and out of the play."
