"Hi, this is Sean Hobson for Expert Village. We're working right now with our quarterbacks. One of the important parts is, after the quarterback takes the snap, he's got to have the right drop back. You don't ever want to have your quarterback take a snap and drop straight back looking at the offense. For one, it's very hard for him to get any kind of balance. Then, when he goes to throw he's got to turn his body completely around. So, when we have our quarterbacks drop, they're always going to take the snap, they're going to turn to the side, they're first step back is going to be a big step back. Just like that. Now, the second step, then, they're going to cross up, take two steps, and the third step then, "go ahead," when he takes his third step he's going to get good balance, he's up on his toes, he's bouncing around, and he's ready to throw the ball. "So, let's do it at full speed." This is what it looks like...this is a three step drop. "Good." So he got a three step drop, he's bouncing on his toes. The next one we're going to show you is called a five step drop. This is to get the quarterback back deep away from the line to avoid any kind of defensive penetration and give him a long throw down the field. This is what it looks like for a five step drop. "Good." You see he's deep; he's got the ball up high where he's going to be strong with it, looking to get it down field. And that's how you do a three step drop and a five step drop with good balance as a quarterback."
