on 8/2/2008 Thank you very much Mr. Toriello. I am a comfortable swimmer in the water; however, was never a part of an organized swim team. I am in college now and just started to swim laps regularly. There was kind of a problem though; I didn't exactly know what I was doing! I perceive myself as having a good work ethic and I love being active, but I wasn't exactly sure how to swim correctly. Your series of videos gave me the foundation for feeling more confident and improving my overall swimming abilities. I sincerely say thank you!

Video Transcript

"Hello and welcome to Expert Village. I'm Phillip Toriello from the Avila Bay Athletic Club. In this clip, we are going to be talking about freestyle. Technically, freestyle is any choice of swimming in individual events except those that include breast stroke, butterfly and backstroke, and most importantly, those in medley races. In today's world of competitive swimming, the most popular type of freestyle stroke is the "crawl stroke", or the "over arm stroke." Some of the events that freestyle is actually used in include the fifty meter, hundred meter, two hundred meter, four hundred meter, eight hundred meter and one thousand meter races. They are also included in all of the medley races including the four hundred IM, the two hundred IM, the one hundred IM and the four by one hundred individual medley relay. "
