"Time to talk about another one of those tricks that frustrates almost everybody while they're trying to learn it, the Manual to 180. This trick understandably relies really heavily on having good manual skills and a solid 180. At the same time having the two of those doesn't mean that you are going to be able to go out and figure them out immediately. It took me a quite a while despite having good skills in both manualing and 180s to really figure out how to do a good Manual to 180. The main key to this trick is that as you are doing the manual, you have to make sure that you are in enough control of your balance point that you can get a good pop out of it. This is really important because if you are having trouble staying in the balance point then you really just need to work on your Manuals more because it is going to be almost hopeless if you don't have a good solid balance point to pop off of for the 180. The second thing that really frustrates a lot of people is that the 180 doesn't really feel like a flat ground 180, once you start to really do a lot of Manuals. The reason for this is that you can't get that quick carve off of your front wheel, just that quick little tweak with the wrist can generate that sideways momentum. So you actually are really having to rely completely on your body to generate that spin and so the axis of the spin is actually a little bit different and it feels kind of bizarre at first."
