"Hello, Reggie Hayes here, with Expert Village. Now, we're still talking about VCR's and let's talk about basic cable. Let's say that you have basic cable in your home, which basically it looks like this, with the coax we talked about earlier, it comes from your wall and you've got this. Typically this would go into the back of your TV. The problem with that is you don't get the stereo surround sound that your receiver is capable of producing. So how do you get surround sound through this cable right here, because there's no outlet for it on the stereo? So we need a device that can take the audio and video contained inside this cable, and split it into the red and white, at least, and an "S" video, or at least the composite so that we can work with it, just to split the video and audio. So, instead of hooking this from your wall of your basic cable into the back of your TV, hook it into your VCR, right here, where it says "antenna in". And it screws in. Now, for demonstration purposes, I'm not going to put the proper torques on this, but it is recommended from the cable guys that have said this, there is torque that needs to be applied to this, so you do need to take some needle nose pliers and really tighten that down in order to get a really good, strong video signal out of it. Hand tightening does work sometimes, but it can put lines in it. So, what happens is now we've got our cable running into our VCR, and then it's looping and going right out, through our video cords right here, and into our stereo. So all you have to do, is put your stereo in VCR mode, and change the channel with your VCR. We'll get into remote control programming later. But that's how you take a coax video and audio and change it into surround sound."
