Summary: Learn how to prepare the chicken marinade for Chicken Teriyaki with expert Japanese cooking tips in this free online video recipe.
"Hi, I'm Noe for Expert Village. We're going to make chicken teriyaki marinade. I've cleaned up my cutting board, my knife, and my bowl to make sure that there's no chile pepper residue left. It's good to have it when it's not spicy especially if you're having someone over and there's kids to have a non-spicy alternative. The first thing we do is measure one cup of shoyu, or soy sauce, and I like Kikkoman shoyu. It has a very good flavor. I'm just going to measure 1 cup and I'm just going to put it right in the bowl here. The next step is to put a bit of water and fill up to 1 cup with some leftover white wine if you have some, or you can use cooking wine or you can supplement whiskey. If you don't have wine, the recipe will still be perfectly good with a cup of water. Wine just gives a little bit of extra flavor to it. The next thing is to add a cup of sugar. Just plain, white, granulated sugar. Take a cup, I tend to use less then a full cup, about that much, just pour that in there. Now, we're just going to stir this. I just want to make sure it's all mixed in there until you can no longer feel the granules of sugar. You want the sugar completely mixed in. It might take a couple of minutes. We can't really feel it anymore. You can double check it by lifting up the bowl and making sure that you can't see any sugar granules. Actually, I think I can see a little bit there, so I'm going to stir it a little bit."
