"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon. I’m the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee, and we're here today with Expert Village. People have asked me about the symptoms and the signs of depression. I wanted to give you another one to think about to see if maybe depression that you're around or you've noticed in somebody. Not having interest in the things that you've always loved is certainly one of them. Another one is agitation. Just being totally irritated over things that normally just wouldn't irritate you, but just getting agitated and irritated. Maybe just losing interest in sex. People have said they've lost interest in sex, and that's one of the things that really bothered them. Another one is fatigue and slowing down of body movements. For example, you're always able to jog or to run, and you're just not able to do it. It goes back to that chemical imbalance again. The chemicals are slowing down in the body, so you just don't have the energy to run. You don't have the energy to move like you used to. You can really watch your body language and find out a little bit more about this depression. You can look at your body and see whether you're doing the normal things that you used to do. If you're not doing them, then you need to kind of check yourself. Maybe you need to call a counselor. Maybe you need to call a physician and just say I've like to check this out. Maybe there's nothing to it or maybe there is. You can certainly get on medication, get into counseling, and it's taken care of."
