"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee. We're here with Expert Village today. I wanted to tell you another type of depression because I do have people that ask me what are the different types. Which one is this one? Dysthymia is a different depression. It's less severe, but it's more chronic. I've had people say to me I have been depressed my whole life. Well, that's dysthymia. To be depressed for a long period of time. Periods of dysthymia can alternate with short periods of feeling normal. People will have a time when they are depressed. Then they feel like things are alright, and they go back to depression. The key to this is to know that it's a long period of time. They had this short and long periods of depression. Another type of depression is dysthymia."
