"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee. We're here with Expert Village today. We're spending some time talking about the causes of depression. The, one of the reasons we're doing this is I have a lot of people that ask me about depression. Where did this come from? How did I get it? Did I do something wrong? No. People don't do anything wrong. It's just a series of things that happen to bring this to pass. Another problem is people that drink alcohol, smoke, actually have drug abuse. Many times people have thought that they did it because they were depressed. It's one of those things where you can't quite tell which is the beginning again. They don't know if they drank, smoked, and used drugs and it caused depression, or they were doing it because they were depressed. It's one of those things where you're not quite sure which one was the beginning. Whether they drank, they became depressed, or whether they drank because they were depressed. Another cause of depression is alcohol and drug abuse."
