"Hi! I'm Brenda F. Dixon, the owner of Life Help Now in Nashville, Tennessee. We're here with Expert Village. We're talking about the causes of depression. I've already spoken about stress, medications, illnesses, personality traits, postpartum depression. I'm going to add to that hormones. Women's hormones, if they get out of balance, they can begin to create an arena for them to be depressed and they will fall into that depression. Again, just like I said last time, twice as many women are affected by depression as oppose to men. Another component is heredity. It's inherited. It runs in family lines. There are people and families that everybody's depressed or one person's depressed and nobody else is depressed. The experts really can't quite figure out what is causing this depression. I just want to tell you that sometimes it's in family lines and sometimes it's not. There is no one rule for it."
