"Hi, I'm Ben Anderson with Expert Village. And today I'm here to talk to you about presets on a keyboard. An important thing to know about presets is that presets will help give you certain sounds that you want to have to be able to use often, and be able to find them quickly, without having to cycle through all of the different sounds you're going to have on a keyboard. When playing in a live setting, it's really nice, especially, when switching between multiple sounds during one song. Instead of having to sit and cycle through all of the different sounds, all you have to do is press a button and your sound will be there that you want to use. For example, in one song that I've played before, I originally played piano during the song, and then I would have to later switch from strings. So, the nice thing about presets is I could be sitting here and I could quickly cycle through the sound that I wanted to, just by finding it here in my preset bank. Without the presets on the keyboard, it would be a lot harder and it would be a lot more time consuming to sit and cycle through all the different sounds. This keyboard, for example, has over eight hundred different sounds, and it would be a lot harder for me to sit here and cycle through every different sound that there is to offer. Whereas with the presets, I can find what sounds I want to use and to be able to have readily available at my fingertips, and then set them onto the presets here. And then I can find them just by hitting that button, rather than having to sit here and play through all the different sounds until I find the right one."
