"In this section I'm going to talk about copyrighting your song. If you're Canadian for all those Canadian fellow Canucks out there easiest thing to do is become part of SOCAN the union and you can register your songs on line through their database and that's sufficient enough. If you're American you can register with BMI or ASCAP. Those are the two main songwriting unions. There's other ones as well, but a really easy and official way to do it is to contact the Library of Congress about registering your songs and they'll send you a form and you can send them a recording and the lyrics of your song and that will make it really official that it's yours and that no one can steal it from you. The Library of Congress is the easiest most direct way I think if you're not already a member of the union. Definitely join the union, they have workshops and seminars and a lot of great advise."
