So now we're going to setup our still life. I love to use fruit because it's organic and you really can't go too wrong with the shapes. Sometimes if you use something like a box or a rectangular, you get a little tied up in getting the lines straight and the perspective straight. So it's really great to use fruit, I'm actually going to use a lovely grapefruit today. When you're setting it up I would say make sure to have a directional source of light that way you get some nice highlights you get some nice shadows, and your form will really pop and have to work with. If you have a flat lighting, your picture is going to look sort of flat. So it's really nice to have it somewhere close to you. If you can get it on the table right in front of you, it's great. So you can really look at it because it's all about seeing what's there and putting it on the canvass. It's up to you but those are just some gestures and guidelines.
