So now we're going to set up our still life. I've chosen an apple and two persimmon and I love using fruit because it's really a great starting point to draw. You have organic shapes, you're not trying to worry about getting a box to look like a box or if you have some hard lines and sometimes you get caught up in the shape of things. I would love for you to just be able experiment with the pencils and start knowing how to use them. Setting up the fruit here and you want to have a really great light source because you want to have highlights and you want to have shadows. This will help your form pop and I'm going to get into that a little bit later so just set them up and really sort of try to make them fairly close to you. You really don't want to reach and try to squint across the room and just make sure that you have your light source and that is about it, it's really simple.
