"So I'm going to talk a little bit about different types of paper you can use for drawing with charcoal. What I would recommend doing is going down to your local art store and actually checking out the different types you can see for yourself. But they usually have pads of paper and single sheets of paper which are probably going to be a little bit more expensive. So I would stick to a pad of charcoal paper as you can see in this one they have all different kinds of colors that you can use which is great, I think. You can really use the different types of charcoal of course there's black but also there is color charcoal and white charcoal which is great for getting highlights. So I'm going to use one of these colored sheets today and another thing to look at in terms of paper is the tooth or sort of the texture of the paper. The smoother it is the more your charcoal is going to slide off of the paper and the tooth or texture has the more the charcoal is going to grab onto it. So I would recommend a medium tooth paper to start out with."
