"Hi, my name is Terri Lynne and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment I'm gonna show you how to do a nice basic braid. So, you want to start with really nice well combed hair. You don't want any knots in it when you're braiding. And your just gonna divide the hair into three segments, equal segments. That's one thing, a lot of people when they're braiding, they'll they'll make two segments really thin and one thick and then you don't have a nice even looking braids. So, you really want to make sure the segments are equal, That's probably the most important thing. Just separate them until you feel the weight or the amount is about the same. And you could start up as high as you want, like right up above the nip of the neck. But I like to make it a little bit, a little bit more casual looking and a little bit more relaxed. I start about right here, the lower nip of the neck. So, I start the braid. So, I do is actually place one segment over the middle and then one other segment. You keep taking the outside pieces and folding them in to the middle. If the hair is really slippery, you might want to wet it a bit, damp it, dampen it and it will help the braid stay together. And you could braid it all the way down if someone has all one length hair. If they got some layers in there, you don't want to braid too far because you'll start seeing pieces sticking up on you. So, I like to leave a nice couple of inches at the bottom too. And you wrap, wrap the bottom here. So, it's nice even braid here. And again if you've got some strands you can choose what you want to do with them, If you want to pin them up with a bobby pin or a Barrett you can. I like to just leave them hanging loose. It just gives it a nice, nice casual braid. "
