How to Do an Inverted Ponytail: Long Hairstyles

"Hi, my name is Terri Lynne and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. In this segment we're gonna show you how to do an inverted or what might be called an upside down pony tail. It's just a way of making an average pony tail just a little bit dressier. It's very simple. Again you want to just start with a nice clean freshly brushed hair. I'm just gonna grab it down by the nape of the neck, gather it. It's kind of nice to have if you have some shorter pieces just up in hand. You grab it and you're gonna actually go from underneath. And started like a regular pony tail where you wrap wrap through. You're actually going to go two times or three how ever many times you need to wrap it. On the last turn your gonna actually wrap it up and not let it go all the way through and your gonna let the pieces just kind of flow down like this. And you could kind of play with them a bit to spread them out a bit. If there's pieces that are sticking up a much and you want to smooth them you can use a bit of water or smoothing gel. But I think actually this looks fine. Some people if they think the pieces are hanging too low, they actually take a bobby pin and tuck them, pin them under. You could do that as well but I'm gonna let them hang. Turn back, great and from the front. And that is how you do an inverted or upside down pony tail.
