"Hi, I'm Amelia and on behalf of Expert Village, I'll be talking to you about understanding the laws of hair color. Don't panic when I'm talking about doing the math for hair color. It's not like algebra or anything. What it means is again, choosing your desired level. Again, if you want to be like a level eight, you figure out where you are. It's always good to have a swatch ring. My, if you're going to do your own color at home, my strong recommendation is for you to go to a beauty supply store. Because there you're going to have these types of things. Whereas at the drugstore or the grocery store you're really only going to have a small little swatch. And you can't really compare your own hair color to that. So at the beauty supply store, you'll have a swatch ring, and with that swatch ring, you'll figure out your own hair color. You're going to want to choose the darkest part on your head. So let's say you're a level six, and you're wanting to go to a level eight. That's one, two, one, two, three. That's three levels of lift. So you're going to want to use a thirty volume developer. If you're going to be doing any thing over three levels of lift, you're really going to want to go to the salon for that. So three levels of lift, thirty volume developer, mix it how you want it. Figure out your undertones and your bases, and you should be able to come up with your own color perfectly. "
